A local firefighter was injured a few days after Gunnar's surgery. He fell off a roof while hanging Christmas lights. He was in critical condition for a while, and he didn't survive his injuries. It is an incredibly sad story, he left behind a wife and 2 children. His funeral was on Thursday, a gloomy, nasty day. I wanted to go to the funeral, but with Gunnar, it just wasn't appropriate. We decided to park along the path from the church to the cemetary to watch the processional and take a few pictures. It was an amazing, touching thing... to watch more firetrucks and ambulances than you could imagine on their way to the cemetary.
McKinney had every single piece of apparatus in the processional... every firetruck, every ambulance, every firefighter was there.
The other local fire department's came in at the end....
