The big day!

Surgery was very early in the morning.... Gunnar was awake in the car, but sleepy. When we arrived at the hospital, he gave a big stretch.

Gunnar in his cute little gown. By this time, he knew something was up and was clinging to me.


After he got the "goofy juice" (also known as Versed). It makes him loopy, sleepy, drowsy and giggle. Last time, he couldn't hold his head up and he was just giggling at me. This time, he was just sleepy. Cute, but scary at the same time.... This is when they rolled him back to surgery. They let him bring his puppy and is ball with him.


Then we went to the waiting room to watch the monitor.


As soon as he was done with surgery, (1 hr 30 min later), the Dr came out to tell us it all went well. He said the adenoids were huge and the tonsils were successfully shrunk. He was on his way to recovery. A few minutes later, the nurse came to get us and we were at Gunnar's side before he woke up. Waking up is a little scary (for him and for us), but they are really awesome and they let me hold him immediately. He was on oxygen, but it was blow by, so I just had to hold it near his face. We didn't take any pictures in recovery.

A picture of his puppy. The nurses put the mask on the puppy's nose (to show him what they were going to do to him). I can't say enough how wonderful the staff was!


The family came for a visit. Ally, Trevor, Brandon, Papa & GG. Gunnar was so excited to see everyone! He loves Trevor & Brandon. They brought markers and books and toys. He's a picture of GG with Gunnar for a little bit in one of his few waking moments.


Later that evening, he was doing well and we were getting a little restless. We got permission to take a tour around the hospital. We loaded Gunnar up on the Radio Flyer and off we went.

Then we went back to our room for the night. Mom slept in bed with Gunnar, Dad slept on the super-comfy pull out couch.
