Huge news for Gunnar!

Three weeks ago today, we decided to quit forcing Gunnar to drink his Carnation Instant Breakfast milkshakes twice a day. We were very nervous about the big change, but decided we needed to give him a few weeks to adjust. We weren't going to chicken out like we usually did after 2 days of no eating and/or drinking. Well, it took about 3 days and Gunnar started eating. He has been surprising us almost every day. Sure, there are days when he barely eats anything, but there are also days when he eats more than I ever thought I'd see him eat! We were offering him milk almost every day for the first week, and not surprisingly, he didn't want it... He'd say "no want it!!!". So, I gave up. I started buying lots of yogurt drinks and yogurt and Kefir (his new fave) and he sometimes would drink 3 yogurt drinks at a time!!!

His 3 yr well check isn't until mid-June, but we are really hoping that he will have gained weight by then. Until then, he is happy, healthy, and just an awesome little boy. He is trying new foods on a regular basis... his new one is peaches (whole/fresh peaches with the skin peeled off), yogurt with peaches mixed in (he has had issues with 'chunks' in his yogurt until now), cream cheese on just about anything (ritz crackers are his fave!), and sausage!!! (he includes hot dogs in the sausage category).

Our big goal for the week is for him to start eating vegetables. We had 2 successful crunches of carrot (cooked, but not mushy, baby carrots) dipped in ranch at therapy. And again at home, 2 more successful bites of carrot. He's not a huge fan, but he did 'tolerate' them. We are thrilled!!!
