Cardiology update

Since I posted pictures of our visit with Cardiology, I thought I'd update the results of the visit as well.

The hole is the same size... no change. Still quite large, but the blood flow is restricted by the tissue that is growing around the hole. Doc says as he gets older it is less and less likely to close on it's own, but that as long as he isn't showing signs of pulmonary hypertension, we will hold off on surgery. Some people can live with holes like Gunnar's for their entire life... it's just a wait & see. He is going to discuss with the pediatric cardiac surgeon to make sure he agrees with his decision.

Every time we go see the cardiologist, we hope for an answer... a resolution. Yes, we need surgery, or no he will never need surgery. And we always get the "let's wait and see in another 6 months". But we also know that Gunnar's cardiologist is trying to be very careful to make the best decision for Gunnar. We are thankful for that.

We also found out that the clinical trials (the ones that were not approved by the FDA last year) have gone back to the drawing board. So that means, surgery = open heart surgery. Yet another reason to try to wait...
