So, we bought this Chrysalis from the butterfly festival. We were told it would turn into a butterfly by Sunday. So, Sunday morning, this is what we saw. It's hard to see, but it's still in a pretty green cocoon. It had gold dots all over it.
But then Sunday evening, after Gunnar was in bed, it turned black. By morning, it was almost clear. You could actually see the colorful wings inside the cocoon. Gunnar was amazed! We went out to My Gym, and when we got back in the afternoon, here is what we found:
Gunnar was so impressed with it, he had to take a picture. (Nice camera!?!)
And after dinner, we took it outside to set it free.
We got some sugar water on a q-tip so that Gunnar could let it fly away. I thought it would immediately fly off. But nope, it wasn't quite ready.
So, Gunnar plucked it out of his cup...
And it crawled around on Gunnar's fingers...
Gunnar was so excited!!!
And after about an hour, I realized, it just wasn't going to fly anywhere. So, we put it in the peach tree to "go to bed". Sure enough, in the morning, it was gone.
